Free Folk Concert #3-August 15th

The third installation of our Free Family Night Folk Concert series will be on August 15th at Bountiful City Park. This concert will feature the amazing Singer/Songwriters Kat Tingey and Pete Witcher along with Mike Murphy and possibly a surprise guest artist. The concert will begin at 6:30pm at the East Pavilion in Bountiful City Park. As always, the concert is FREE. Bring a picnic and a lawn chair if you'd like and come out and enjoy a great evening of folk music.

Murphy Announces Retirement

Mike Murphy, a 37 year veteran teacher at Viewmont High School, has announced his decision to retire from teaching at the end of this school year. Murphy began his teaching career in 1974 after graduating from Texas Tech University and accepting the position of Band Director at Viewmont. In 1996, Murphy gave up his position with the band but continued teaching U.S. History and Guitar. Though not the oldest teacher at the school, Murphy has been there longer than any other teacher presently teaching there. Three other educators will retire from Viewmont this year as well: Ms. Jeanne McGuire-Choral Director, Mr. Scott Tennis-Principal, and Mr. David Gill-Math Teacher. Murphy plans to devote more time to Murphy's Guitars and Davis Park Golf Course as well as cycling and fly fishing.
